The Commonwealth Mentorship Program aims to encourage intergenerational partnership for sustainable development. The call for a mentorship programme emerged from the member States of the Commonwealth at the Women Affairs’ Ministerial Meeting in Samoa in September 2016. The call for a mentorship programme with young women as the primary beneficiaries stems from the concern that the world continues to lag behind when it comes to closing the gender gap.
In response to this call, the Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC) and the Commonwealth Youth Gender Equality Network (CYGEN) together with the Commonwealth Secretariat and Rotary Caribbean and Rotary Canada bring an intergenerational mentorship programme. This call for applications for mentees was made in April 2019 with 50 beneficiaries. The pilot runs from August 2019 to January 2020.
Supper super excited to be amongst this year’s Commonwealth Women Mentees.
